Patrons often rave about the perfectly cooked fish, featuring a light and crispy batter that’s simply irresistible. The chips complement the fish beautifully, being neither too greasy nor soggy. Many customers enjoy the signature mushy peas, a comforting side that completes the experience. Quick service keeps the line moving, and the staff's friendliness adds to the overall warmth of the visit. Regulars appreciate the generous portions at reasonable prices, ensuring great value for money every time.

Most Disliked

Some visitors mention that peak times can lead to a busy atmosphere, which might mean a slight wait for food during lunch and dinner rushes. A few diners have remarked on the limited options for those seeking vegan or vegetarian dishes, expressing a desire for more plant-based selections. Moreover, those accustomed to larger, gourmet fish and chips may find the offerings here a bit humble. Customers also note the eatery’s takeout-only nature might not suit everyone, particularly those looking for a more formal dining experience.

My friend and I got the small fish, chips and mushy peas for £5.50 each. It was the best fish and chips I've ever tasted and such good value. The chips weren't too greasy and the batter on the fish light and crispy. Well worth a visit.

Singer songwriter Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy) advised that "when your life's in a mess, take a National Express." He was suggesting that it's the simple and genuine things in life that can cheer you up. Now a visit to Digmoor may not be some people's idea of escapism; no sweeping sandy beaches or dramatic mountainside views. However, I can assure you those people are missing something. I had forced myself out to do an errand which involved going to Digmoor. I wasn't feeling great, too many precious things lost. Walking back to the car I popped into the Digmoor Fish Bar for something to eat and I am so glad I did. Standing in the April sunshine in a car park at the back of an honest parade of shops, I was somehow transported back to happier times. Me, the boy. Proper chippy sausage, proper glossy chips. Loads of salt and vinegar, unwrapped with a big plastic fork. No worries, no fears just a delicious taste. Filled with hope at the end. Now we have a perfectly great chip shop where I live but its lacking that x factor. That ability to hold back time and let us breath in tradition and remember fondly. The following afternoon the sun was shinning again so I got back in the car and made my second visit. Not something I expected to do. As before the staff were all warm and friendly and the food was brilliant. It's a real community hub in some ways because the best chippy's are the ones constantly busy, buzzing with conversations, plenty of comings and goings; on foot and also by car. Like me, others were making the pilgrimage to order, fish, kebabs, pies and peas. You can even buy a bottle of chippy vinegar if you want one. The shop is clean, tidy and organised which shows the owners have a passion about what they do. There are things we take forgranted and sometimes the complexities of our lives blur the simple pleasures before our eyes. I strongly recommend you give The Digmoor Fish Bar a try. Great people and great food. I would also like to thank Debbie who is an employee. She popped out to check I was OK and we had a chat. You just don't get this level of kindness and empathy even from people I once regarded as friends and family. So thank you. Keep doing what your doing. Funny isn't it. Joy is found when we are not looking for it and where we might least expect to find it. It seems Neil Hannon was right! Best wishes, Paul.
